Ghetto Zombies: Graffiti Squad, the vibrant top-down action game with retro aesthetics from Brazilian developer Fogo Games and published by Nuntius Games, will arrive on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2 next week, on August 27th, 2026.
To set the stage, the development team has shared everything you need to know about the title, along with their thoughts on the excitement of finally bringing their debut game to players across all major platforms.

In Ghetto Zombies, players are introduced to the charming Vila Fundinho, a humble neighborhood like any other, children playing in the streets, families shopping at the local market, and water running dry from the taps.
Ironically, the water shortage was the best thing that could have happened that day. A mysterious contamination in the city’s water network transformed everyone who drank it into zombies.
As the only area untouched by the outbreak, Vila Fundinho became a refuge amid the looming zombie apocalypse that consumed the city.

After years of isolation, it’s finally time to fight back and reclaim the freedom brutally taken by the undead. To do so, Professor Vara, a renowned and talented scientist with the appearance of a capybara, created the Z-Squad, a group of four genetically modified youths endowed with special abilities to confront the threat.
Trained specifically to eliminate zombies, Kath, Vini, Fabão, and Duda emerge as the last hope to uncover the origin of the infection and put an end to the monstrous menace threatening the future of Vila Fundinho’s remaining survivors.
Ghetto Zombies: Graffiti Squad is a pixel-art action shooter that turns the Brazilian outskirts into the protagonist of a fun, colorful, and personality-packed zombie apocalypse. There are more than 20 types of enemies to face in challenging waves.
The experience blends frantic combat against hordes of eccentric creatures, a vast arsenal featuring more than 70 creative weapons, and a unique mechanic of tagging city walls, an integral part of the campaign’s progression. Each newly reclaimed area gains color through street art, transforming the scenery as players advance.

Speaking of weapons, they’re the aspect the development team is most eager for new console players to try out. Each one carries a wild concept, designed to steer clear of the everyday violence stereotypes associated with local communities. There were so many fun ideas that not all could make it into the final game.
Among Fogo Games’ favorites are the Shark Eater, a shotgun shaped like a shark; the Honey Gun, a hive-shaped weapon that fires a swarm of poisonous bees; the Pow-Pow, a gun with a boxing glove at the tip that delivers nonstop punches; and Zombie Strike, a perfect choice for slicing through anything in your path.
More than just a game about zombies, Ghetto Zombies is a celebration of Brazilian peripheral culture. Inspired by the streets, characters, music, architecture, and everyday life of São Paulo’s outskirts, the game portrays this universe with humor, creativity, and authenticity, showing the hood as a space of art, community, and resistance.
One of the things the team is most proud of is simply having completed their first game, despite challenges such as budget constraints and technical hurdles along the way.

“The GZ’s journey helped everyone grow immensely as developers, artists, and producers. The challenges were so many that finishing the game was a source of pride greater than any other stage,” says Rafael Assunção, Art Producer at Fogo Games.
In addition, the release of the Steam and XBOX versions earlier this year was crucial to ensuring a stable, high-quality product.
“We ran extensive tests and pushed GZ to its limits. That was essential for players to enjoy a better gameplay experience. The team has a special affection for the XBOX launch, since they were our investors at the very beginning and made a huge difference to the project. It was incredibly rewarding and valuable for the studio’s and the team’s portfolio,” according to Rafael.
Don’t forget to add Ghetto Zombies: Graffiti Squad to your wishlist, it’s the most effective way to support your favorite indie games on digital platforms.
This is a title sure to please fans of retro classics like Zombies Ate My Neighbors, one of its main inspirations. The team also assures that players who enjoy Enter the Gungeon, Relic Hunters, Atomicrops, Hotline Miami, and Jet Set Radio will likely find plenty to love in Ghetto Zombies: Graffiti Squad.
