The highly anticipated Shard Squad, developed by The Root Studios and published by Nuntius Games, has just received a new trailer highlighting the full scope of its world, characters, and content.

A roguelike full of adorable monsters

Shard Squad combines the fast-paced addiction of roguelikes with the charm of the monster-taming genre, where players build and train a team of creatures known as Shards. Each one has unique abilities, elements, and personalities that can be combined to create powerful synergies and strategic depth.

According to Rennan Costa, the game’s director and programmer:

“Our goal is to deliver a beautiful and varied experience. Every Shard is completely different. The synergy system makes team building highly strategic. We also developed backstories for every element in the game so that the world and its characters feel alive and meaningful.”

Around 20 hours of gameplay just to complete the main story, with beautiful cutscenes and full voice acting in English, Portuguese, Chinese, and Japanese.

20 playable Shards, divided among the elements Fire, Electric, Water, Nature, and Crystal, plus 2 secret characters.
8 stages, each with multiple selectable difficulty levels.
Over 170 enemies, including 59 unique bosses.
19 NPCs, each with their own stories and roles.
99 unique relics that affect stats, grant new abilities, companions, and even comedic effects.
19 different synergy types based on each Shard’s personality and relationships.
20+ unique events that occur during stages.
Local co-op mode, allowing players to team up with friends.
Fully voiced opening and ending cutscenes.
Complete bestiary with detailed info on every enemy and NPC.
32 unlockable tales that expand the lore and character connections.
